High altitude greening is a new concept of urban greening. Broadly speaking, high-altitude greening includes all greening work of buildings or other structures above the ground, including roof greening, vertical greening, hanging gardens, platform planting and so on. High-altitude greening can bring various benefits to the environment and beautify the urban environment. There are two main ways of aerial greening: roof greening and vertical greening.
Roof greening is characterized by planting plants on the structural platform, that is, non-ground planting, and focusing on horizontal planting. Roof greening can be planting plants on the roof and/or other places of buildings or structures in a dense and/or extensive way.
The soil layer of intensive green roofs is usually deep and there are many kinds of plants that can be planted. This kind of green roof will have access to it for leisure purposes, which requires more maintenance time. Platform garden, roof garden and sky garden are typical examples of intensive green roofs.
The soil layer of extensive green roof is usually shallow, and there are fewer kinds of plants that can be planted. This kind of green roof only provides access for maintenance personnel and requires less maintenance time. Typical examples of extensive green roofs include green covered pavements, building roofs and so on.
Vertical greening usually refers to planting plants on the ground or raised flower troughs, with the aim of planting plants on the vertical plane of related structures. Typical examples of vertical greening include planting climbing and/or drooping plants at the edge of buildings or structures; Planting plants on a suitable multi-layer modular flower trough or module board; Or both.
